I was watching the Today Show last week and was really struck by a piece on the number of kids (usually toddlers) who are injured and/or killed each year as a result of reversing cars with terrible blind spots. This is particularly a problem with SUVs (which so many of us parents drive).
I’ve included the link to the Today Show site and there you can actually watch the video clip of the piece Meredith did.
If you don’t have time to watch it, here are some suggestions to reduce the risk:
1. Walk 360 degrees around your car before getting in and driving away.
2. Reverse into your driveway or garage.
3. Purchase one of the safety devices on the market (cameras, sensors) which help you identify what’s behind your rear bumper…. the Today Show piece had a number of options at various price points.
